| Chronology of Development |
|
A 17 point functional scale for use in ambulant individuals with Duchenne Muscular Dystophy was developed in the UK through the North Star Network. It was felt the scale was relevent to ambulant SMA patients as it addressed appropriate functional activites.

Items include stand, walk, standing on one leg, climbing up and down box step, rise from floor, standing on heels, jump, hop, run and step-ups. Rise from floor, 10 m run and step ups are timed tests. The items are scored from 0 to 2, with 2 = normal, no modification, 1 = modified method but independently achieved, 0 = Unable to achieve independently
